Every brow trend has a time and a place. (Lest we remember those thin tweezed brows from the early aughts.) At the moment, it's all about favoring the clean and natural, a welcomed sigh of relief from those block-y, bold and bushy pomade days. And now, the way to achieve those dreamy, fluffy brows is just as simple.
Enter soap brows, a style of brows that are feathered and lifted. It's the less committal version of laminated brows, which are slightly more dramatic looking, still fluffed-up yet shinier, smoother and lay flat to skin. To help achieve those, Got2b Glued Glued Spiking Gel is the new kid on the block. The product gained fame on TikTok for its feathered effect akin to brow lamination. The best part? It's at a drugstore price.
Schwarzkopf Got2b Glued Styling Spiking Glue
While originally intended for hairstyling, makeup enthusiasts have discovered that the Got2b glued gel works as a great brow-taming product. This hack has gained popularity on social media, with users recommending the use of a separate spoolie for easy application. The formula claims to keep hairs in place for an impressive 72 (!) hours.
That said, we tried the trending Got2b gel by using it to groom brow hair. Good Housekeeping Institute Beauty, Health & Sustainability Lab Executive Director Birnur Aral, Ph.D, also weighed in on its formula, while celebrity makeup artist Judi Gabbay Braha offered tips on achieving those soap brows. Here's all you need to know.
How do you use the Got2b Glued Gel?
Squeeze a pea-sized amount of gel (a little bit goes a long way) onto the back of your hand. Rub the spoolie brush back and forth in the gel to pick it up, Gabbay Braha recommends. Run the brush through brow hairs, working upward and outward to achieve your desired shape. For a more laminated look, use a dual-ended eyebrow brush with a flattened spatula end to help lay down brow hairs.
To create the illusion of fuller brows, fill in sparse areas with a brow pencil, suggests Carly Cochrane, a makeup artist at Cosmetify. Their fine tips allow you to mimic hair-like strokes.
Is Got2b Glued good for eyebrows?
If you’re in a pinch, it's an easy way to achieve soap brows, but note that the product wasn't formulated for its viral use.
We took a closer look at the hair gel's ingredients to gauge its safety around the eye area. While most of the formula's ingredients are found in many brow and eye products, there are some that were found only in a handful, according to Aral's evaluation. To err on the side of caution, our pros typically advise readers to use cosmetic formulas within the boundaries of the manufacturer's intended use recommendations since the safety and testing protocols for different categories of products are also different.
The Got2b Brows & Edges 2-in-1 Wand Gel has gained popularity on social media, but it's worth considering that this product is only available in the UK and EU. Those ordering from the US would have to purchase from a third-party website.
Our review
Commerce editor Jacqueline Saguin shows her soap brows achieved with a normal soap bar (left) and soap brows after using Got2b Glued as brow gel (right).
I've tried my fair share of eyebrow products, experimenting with everything from traditional brow gels to tame hair and bar soap to achieve soap brows. The Got2b Glued Gel promised to combine the benefits of each but with double the wear.
Following the makeup artist's method, I ran a spoolie through the product before applying it to my brows. Its consistency felt creamy with a slightly tacky texture. Then, I brushed my eyebrow hairs upward for a feathered look and traced the top of the brows with the spoolie to shape them a bit more. The whole routine takes less than a minute. Easy enough!
There's ample drying time to style brows to your precise liking. Once dry, it feels smooth and not sticky. The results were a lifted, almost brightened effect. It also holds the feathered appearance in place all day long. Even still, when it comes time to remove your makeup, a few swipes of a damp towel take it off with ease.
The bottom line
Unlike other soap brow products, the gel left an invisible cast behind. A traditional soap bar can leave a white tint that can make eyebrows appear imperceptible without an additional color pigment. The Got2b gel also made it easier to shape and tame brow hairs than a soap bar. Both a pro and a con: it gives hairs a stiff feeling that feels budge-proof.
Keep in mind that the product isn't intended for eyebrow use, so we recommend proceeding with caution and avoiding contact with the eyes. As a brow gel, it's a great product for achieving a laminated effect for less and without commitment. You can get much use out of it, from taming flyaways to tidying up edges for sleek buns. At just $6, the Got2b Glued Gel is an easy yes.
